The Vegan's Guide to Tampa, Part 2
If you haven’t read Part 1 and you want to, click here.
Recently, my boyfriend and I traveled to Baltimore, my hometown, and Durham, NC, my adopted hometown, for a much-needed getaway. Though both cities have solid vegan food options, Tampa’s offerings are more numerous and varied. Our trip reminded me how grateful I am for the food scene here and inspired me to write Part 2 of The Vegan’s Guide to Tampa. (As before, this post is limited to the City of Tampa proper. I’ll get to St. Petersburg and other cities around Tampa Bay in the future.)
Before I dive in to some specific recommendations, I’d like to share this article, “Tampa Bay is Experiencing a Vegan Renaissance”, published in the Tampa Bay Times in April.
New Vegan Spots
Since Part 1, a few new places have opened! (I’m certain this is not an exhaustive list, but just what has made it onto my radar recently.)
Ybor City Vegan Deli at 1903 N. 19th Street, historic Ybor City. (If you make the trip, you should grab an espresso at Foundation Coffee Co.’s new location at 1907 N. 19th in the Bunker building.)
The amazing Gaia Donut has been around for a while, but now has a physical location here in Seminole Heights at 6617 N. Nebraska Ave.!
The We Vegan Cafe, from the folks that make the delicious We Vegan Eats cookies found at Black Radish Grocer and 3 Dot Dash, opened in South Tampa recently at 4326 S Manhattan Ave. In addition to their addictive baked goodies, they serve King State coffee, the very best in the city.
